Couples Therapy

Feeling like you’re at the end of your rope because you and your partner are having the same arguments on repeat?

If you’re struggling with your relationship, trying to connect with your partner may feel like an impossible task. It might feel like you’re hitting a wall and that things simply cannot continue this way, otherwise you’ll be signing up for a lifetime of defeat and disconnection.

Your relationship might feel like the farthest thing that you would have envisioned for yourself. Relationship issues are deeply painful, but in reality, those emotional rollercoasters are very common.

Common Themes

  • Feeling alone, misunderstood, and under-appreciated.

  • Playing the blame game

  • No time for one another

  • The classic silent treatment

  • Lack of trust

  • Arguing and bickering over the same old thing

Relationship conflict is more common than you may think. If your relationship was simply a product of the amount of love that you and your partner have for one another, that would be ideal and even dream-like. However, realistically speaking, it's not that linear. Absolutely, the love that you share is important, but let’s not forget about other impactful factors that play a role such as cross-cultural differences, upbringing, natural dispositions, attachment styles, and so on. Based on those unique differences, you will have different ways of relating to one another, expressing yourselves, and resolving conflict.

When things get difficult, you might end up harbouring feelings of anger and resentment. Consequently, the trust and intimacy that had once drawn you close now show up as loneliness and disconnection.

Couples therapy can help you rebuild your connection as you learn effective ways to deal with change and navigate difficult times

Just like anything that we value, relationships deserve to be given time and effort. In our work together, my goal is to help you get out of the same old patterns that you get stuck in so that you can build trust, openly communicate, and connect on a deeper level.

Together, we will identify the points where you are getting stuck so that you can reconnect and move forward with your relationship. We can achieve this by discussing past experiences, exploring some of the values and beliefs that you bring into the relationship, and uncovering the root of the problem. Over time, this will help you manage the fears and insecurities that cause you to argue, shut down, and get defensive with one another.

In session, the goal is to establish curiosity, stop blaming one another, and understand where the other is coming from so that you are both feeling heard and seen. Engaging in those conversations will allow you to renegotiate a new dynamic that works for all partners involved.

In my work, my clinical interests include particularly working with couples experiencing infidelity, affair(s), and/or betrayal.

Whether you are dealing with big life changes or simply struggling to communicate clearly, I can help you find new ways to reconnect and move forward together.
